Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the operating capacity and to enable high speed operation, by calculating the noise level through the use of each vodeo element information at the end of scanning line and each video element information at the beginning end of the next scanning line. CONSTITUTION:The noise level of original background paper is calculated at the adders 7, 9 and the divider 8, by using a plurality of contrast level information corresponding to each video element obtained at each read-in and scanning of the end M and the beginning M' of each scanning line. This noise level is taken as threshold level and fed to the comparator 15 to reject the noise on background paper. Accordingly, since the operating element is less, the processing speed is increased and since the optimum threshold level can always be set according to the change in the contrast level of the original background paper, the reproduced picture with high quality can be obtained.
