Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce a contact surface between a work and a cutting member to keep the pushing force at the optimum value, by cutting the arcuately reciprocating work by the reciprocating cutting member. CONSTITUTION:The work 3 that is arcuately being reciprocated within a small angle range is made in contact with the wire 4 by raising a work table 12, and the cutting is started by lapping. The position of a section that is being cutted is gradually lowered, as the work table 12 is raised and the wire 4 is fed in a direction shown by the arrow 6 to cut the work 3. Command is externally put into a controller 46 such that according to the lighting of indication lamps 49b the rotational frequency of a pulse motor 29 is gradually increased and then is gradually decreased after the cutting section of the wire 4 has passed the maximum length of the traverse W and therefore the rotational angle theta is large enough to permit the cutting section of the wire 4 to move through the length of the traverse W of the work 3. Thus, the cutting is carried out with the contact surface between the wire 4 and the work 3 being approximately uniform, and during this cutting a slurry containing abrasive grains is fed to the section 52.
