Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a device of small size and light weight and to mount it on various kinds of pantographs by a method wherein a damage detecting circuit using semiconductor parts is installed at a pantograph side.
CONSTITUTION: An electric conductor 3 to detect a damage of a shoe 2 is arranged in a collector shoe 2 in a state insulated electrically from a high voltage of a stringing. And a flexible insulated conductor 4 is routed along a frame work 1 and it is connected to a damage detecting circuit 5. And if the conductor 3 is disconnected by the damage of the shoe 2, a potential of a point A in the circuit 5 becomes a high level and a semiconductor control element 13 is turned ON and then, a light emitting element 12 generates a light signal. The light signal passes through a optical fiber 6 and is transferred to a photoelectric conversion element 14 at a car body side and in this way, the damage of a pantograph can be detected by means of an output signal of photoelectric conversion circuit 7.
