Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the transmission time, by taking two video elements adjacent on each line of original as one unit, judging ''white'' when the both of each one unit are white, and transmitting the black-and-while run length number in compressed code. CONSTITUTION:The output from the original read-in means 1 of self-scanning type is sequentially binarized at the binary circuit 2, and the vido signal of white and black binary type is contained in the first buffer memory 3. This signal is introduced to the shift register 4 and to the controller 8 through the OR gates 5, 6, and exclusive OR gate 7. The controller 8 takes consecutive 2 bits of video signal as one unit, and if both of one units are white, it is judged as ''white'' and if at least one is black, it is judged as ''black'', the number of run lengths for white and black is converted into compression code at the coding memory 13 and transmitted to the reception side.
