PURPOSE:To transmit and magnify a picture without a special processing time, an extra buffer, and increment of the transmission quantity, by giving a function for magnifying in the main scanning line direction to the transmission side and by giving a function for magnifying in the subscanning line direction to the receiving side. CONSTITUTION:Picture information inputted from a picture information input terminal 1 has the run length detected by a run length counter 2, and the run length is used as a part of an address of a read-only memory 3 to call a code. In this case, the read-only memory 3 is controlled by the signal from an input terminal 4 for switching to the mode of magnifying twice to output information of a picture, which is magnified twice in the main scanning line direction, from a parallelserial converter 5. In the receiving side, when one-line components of picture information are stored in a line buffer 9 through a decoder 8, they are transmitted to a printer 11 twice, and a microprocessor 10 controls to print information on two lines.
