Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the starting torque and the operating torque of the single- phase induction motor by adding a switching circuit between DC output terminals and controlling the revolving magnetic field increased. CONSTITUTION:The switching circuit 33 having transistors 12, 13 and rectifiers 24, 25 is connected between the DC output terminals (a) and (b), the one end side common connecting point of the 2-phase windings 15a, 15b of the motor is connected to the neutral terminal (e) of the switching circuit 33, and the other side of the windings is connected to the neutral terminal (c) and (d) of the switching circuits 31, 32. Then, if on signal designated by the hatched region in the drawing is applied to the respective transistors, a current for producing magnetic field for revolving the regions ABC,...H, A flows through the 2-phase windings of the windings 15a, 15b, and thus the rotor 22 of the motor 23 will revolve in a direction as designated by an arrow by the revolving magnetic field. Thus, the average amplitude of the revolving magnetic field is increased, the starting and operating torques can be increased, and the lead phase capacitor is unnecessary, and accordingly the motor can be reduced in size.
