Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled hollow fiber useful as underwear, having improved dyeability, water absorbing property and hand, and comprising a sheath part of an acrylic polymer containing acid dyeable groups and a continuous core part of an acrylic polymer containing carboxyl groups in contact with part of the inner wall of the hollow part.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A spinning solution of an acrylic polymer, e.g. a copolymer of acrylonitrile, diethylaminoethyl methacrylate and acrylamide, containing acid dyeable groups is fed to the sheath part, and (B) a spinning solution of an acrylic polymer, e.g. a copolymer of acrylonitrile and acrylic acid, containing carboxyl groups is fed to the core part and extruded through a sheath-core spinneret into an aqueous nitric acid to give the aimed hollow fiber consisting of a sheath part 1 of the component A and a hollow part 2 substantially continuous along the long direction of the fiber in the sheath part and a core part 3 in which the component B is substantially continuous partly in contact with the inner wall of the hollow part 2.
