Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable immediate reading of a printed information developed in color in paper by adopting a transparent platen and a back-print method in the printer using a thermal head.
CONSTITUTION: The paper 1 is supplied from the lower part to the upper through a paper guide 7 by a paper-driving means 6 and is sent into between the platen 2 and the printing head 5. The paper 1 is coated with a heat-sensitive color developing material at the surface thereof on the head 5 side and the printed information is developed in color by the head 5 moving in the direction vertical to the surface of paper. Since the platen 2 is formed of heat-resisting hard glass or heat-resisting plastic and is transparent, the printed information whose color is developed can be read immediately. In addition, by machining the upper edge part 21 of the platen 2 to be sharply angled, it can be used also as a cutter.
