PURPOSE:To prevent color mixture due to the mixing of signal charge among different picture elements, by forming zigzag many channel cut-off areas for sectioning respective picture elements. CONSTITUTION:Channel cut-off areas 4 zigzag by being bent at repetitive intervals of a transfer gate. Then, areas 4 reside between sections where the color filter changes in color. Consequently, charge generated by light incident to transfer gate electrodes 21 and 22 can not move to the potential well under transfer gate electrode 19 of different picture elements in color filter sections and the signal charge moves only to transfer gate electrode 23 of picture elements in the same color filter sections. Thus, the movement of the signal charge between picture elements differing in color filter section is inhibited to prevent color mixture.
