Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the position detection of skid marks accurate by providing two thermometers within the width of the skid marks and detecting the presence of a skid mark at the center of both thermometers when the detected values of both thermometers become lower than an ordinary slab temp. and become equal. CONSTITUTION:In a skid mark detecting method generated in the slab of a hot rolling line, two thermometers 7, 8 are provided within the width of skid marks 5a, 6a, to measure the temp. of a slab 2 moving left on a conveying line 1. When the detected values of both thermometers 7, 8 are lower than an ordinary slab temp. and the detected values of both thermometers become equal, the center of the skid mark 6a and the center of the thermometers 7, 8 coincide. In this way, the position detection of the skid mark 6a is made accurate, and the removal of the skid mark with a local heater becomes possible by stopping the slab 2 in this position.
