Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of cavitation due to an orifice in a gas cooler cooling water system by providing conduit pressure increasing means in the vicinity of the downstream of the orifice for controlling the flow rate and applying back pressure to the downstream side of the orifice. CONSTITUTION:A cooling water system for the gas cooler 8 is provided by branching from the feedwater base conduit 1 to which the cooling water is supplied by a feedwater pump 5 from a storage tank 6. The orifice 9 for controlling the flow rate of the water is provided on the midway of the exhaust conduit 4 for the gas cooler 8, and the conduit pressure increasing means such as a throttle valve 10 or the like is provided in the vicinity of the exhaust side. Thus, back pressure is applied to the orifice 9 so that the minimum pressure P0' at the downstream of the orifice becomes higher than the saturated steam pressure PS at room temperature of the water. Accordingly, no cavitation occurs thereat.
