Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an accurate real-time measurement of the constituent density of an objective substance at a plurality of spots by transmitting coherent or incoherent light to a measuring spot through a light guide, and detecting the natural wavelength absorbed by the substance being measured. CONSTITUTION:The output light from an incoherent-light source 11 or a coherent light source generating continuous light or pulse light tuning with the natural absorption-wavelength of a constituent in a substance measured, is transmitted to one end of an optical fiber 13 through an optical element 12. At the other end, a container for the substance measured, e.g., a sample cell 14 is provided. Said output light is transmitted to the cell 14 through the fiber 13, and the intensity of the light is decreased because its natural wavelength is absorbed by the substance being measured when the light passes through. The passed light is transmitted to a spectroscope 16 through an optical fiber 15. The output light from the spectroscope 16 is transmitted to a detector 17, converted into a current corresponding to the intensity of the light, and monitored by a monitor 19 through an amplifier 18. The output signal from the amplifier 18 is fed into an electronic computer 20, and the result is displayed on a data indicator 21.
