Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively execute the fixing treatment of a copying paper which is thick and small-sized, and also prevent generating fire at the time of an operation error, by controlling so that the copying paper is stopped once in the fixing device, and also maintaining the fixing vessel at low temperature while it is stopped.
CONSTITUTION: When the thick paper copy switch 29 is operated, the power supply conducting angle to the fixing heater 197 is controlled by the fixing heater control circuit 107 through the microprocessor 171, etc., and the fixing device becomes high temperature as specified. And, when the tip of the copying paper which has been conveyed into the fixing device is detected by the paper detection switch 157, the solenoid 181 is excited, and in case when the copying paper is thick and it is detected by the paper size timer that the paper is of the same small size as a postcard, the copying paper is stopped. At the same time, after the prescribed time has passed, the solenoid 181 is demagnetized, the power supply conducting angle of the heater 197 is controlled until the copying paper is conveyed again, and the fixing device is controlled so as to be at low temp. Accordingly, a copying paper which is thick and small-sized is brought to the fixing treatment effectively by a little power consumption, and even if thin paper is treated by the thick paper mode, fire is not caused.
