Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an Al alloy for working with high strength, high impact characteristics, etc. by combining a specified composition with specified structural conditions of an ingot.
CONSTITUTION: This alloy has a composition consisting of, by wt., 2.0W9.0% Cu, 0.2W1.2% Mg, 0.2W1.2% Si, 0.2W0.8% Mn and the balance Al and inevitable impurities, and it has the following structural conditions: ≤80μm grain size, ≤15μm secondary dendrite arm space and ≤10μm 2nd phase particles made of intermetallic compound. The ratio of solute concn. in grains to solute concn. on grain boundaries is ≥0.70. This alloy is melted and continuously cast at ≥25°C/sec solidifying speed, and the resulting ingot is homogenized at 450W530°C, 0.5W20hr. Thus, high strength, high impact resistant characteristics and high fatigue strength are obtd.
