PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a remedy for atherosclerosis, in one step and high purity, by reacting nicotinic acid anhydride as the safe and easily handleable starting material with 2,2,6,6-tetramethylol-cyclohexanol.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula is prepared by reacting (A) nicotinic acid anhydride as a starting material with (B) 2,2,6,6-tetramethylolcyclohexanol in the presence of pref. sodium acetate as a catalyst, at 60W120°C. The pref. molar ratios of (A):(B):(C) are (4W10):1:(0.1Wabout 2).
