Abstract

PURPOSE: A culture medium for microorganisms that contains the precipitate soluble in warm water of distillers solubles as a growth accelerator, thus being inexpensive and excellent in growth efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: After a precipitate of distillers solubles is suspenced in warm water, the suspension is stood or stirred or shaken gradually to prepare a culture medium for microorganisms wherein the amount of warm water is preferably about 2W8pts.wt. per 1pt. of the precipitate. The extraction with the warm water is conducted at pH of 2W10, 2 atomospheric pressure and at 50W120°C. The extraction time depends on that of the warm water, however, if it is 50°C, the extraction can be almost completed in about 20min. Various kinds of nutrients such as saccharides may be mixed therewith in a powder from by 0.01W10wt% based on the medium. The growth efficiency of the medium is 3W4 times that of the culture containing yeast extract.
