Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the constant frequency electric power by the constant frequency generator by interposing a synchronizing electric coupling between the main shaft and the synchronous generator and exciting the armature winding with the difference frequency between the main shaft frequency and the synchronizing frequency. CONSTITUTION:The synchronizing electric coupling 2 is interposed between the main engine 1 of propelling a ship and the synchronous generator 3. The field winding 2b of the synchronizing coupling 2 is excited with DC by a DC exciter 5, and the armature winding 2a is excited with AC by a frequency converter 6 for producing the electric power of deviation frequency fe between the main shaft frequency fs detected by the main shaft frequency detector 9 and reference synchronizing frequency f0. Thus, electric energy is circulated between the synchronizing generator output and the synchronizing coupling, thereby improving the efficiency.
