Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the improvement in the power factor of the AC electric motor vehicle even in a light load state in which an on-off controlled rectifier is maintained in nonconducting state by providing two phase advancing circuits capable of breaking and conducting with different capacities. CONSTITUTION:Rectifiers Re1, Re2 are connected at the AC side to the secondary windings N21, N22 of a transformer T and connected at the DC side in a cascade. Two sets of phase advancing circuits PL1, PL2 of different capacites are connected to the secondary winding N22. Thyristors Th11, Th12 and Th21, Th22 are controlled on or off, or consecutively responsive to the current deviation. The thyristors TSW1, TSW2 of the phase advancing circuits PL1, PL2, respectively are controlled by the output from a current level detector LD2 in a normal case. When a semivoltage control command HC is applied, the switches SW1, SW3 are interrupted, and the switch SW2 is exchanged, and only the thyristor TSW2 is controlled by the output from the current level detector LD1.
