Abstract
PURPOSE: To recover the nitrogen content of test sample in 100% by thermally cracking sample solution after adding acidic substance so that it may show a value below the specific pH level, when the sample containing nitrate nitrogen and nitrite nitrogen is thermally cracked and this nitrogen is converted to NH3 using catalyst to measure the nitrogen content.
CONSTITUTION: Sample solution containing nitrate nitrogen and nitrite nitrogen is introduced into sample board 9 of sample introduction part 1 through injection port 8, and then is conducted to the inlet part 10 of pyrolysis tube 3. Hydrogen is sent in through hydrogen introduction part 11. Sample solution is converted to NH3 by catalyst 12 filled in the center of the tube 3. The tube 3 is heated inside furnace 2 at sample cracking temperature of 700°C and catalytic temperature of 600°C. Produced NH3 is titrated by titration cell 5 and fluctuations of its ionic concentration is measured by means of ammeter 6. The measurements are recorded by recorder 7. During said pyrolysis, sample solution is added with sulfuric acid or phosphoric acid or substance containing the ion of said acid, so that it is prepared to show a pH value below 1.8 level. Thus it is possible to completely crack and recover nitrate nitrogen and nitrite nitrogen from the sample solution and obtain accurate analysis value.
