Abstract

PURPOSE:To analyse quantitatively exact total carbonic acid in a water solution rapidly and at low temperature without corroding the analysis apparatus by heating the solution with the existence of ammonia ion and analysing quantitatively the produced CO2 gas. CONSTITUTION:For quantitatively analysing total carbonic acid in water solution, ammonium nitrate is added to a water solution that is athe specimen and the ammonium ion is made twice as much as carbonic ion in mol ratio and the specimen is heated at over 100 deg.C, and the produced CO2 gas is measured by the gas chromatography or Olsatz method or other methods. Particularly with the chromatography the temerature over 300 deg.C to vaporize the specimens is used to gassify completely the CO2 in the specimen. With this method the carbonic acid is quantitatively determined accurately and rapidly without corrosion of the apparatus when an acid such as sulfuric acid and others is added.
