Abstract

PURPOSE: To accelerate the release of medium from slurry for rapid concentration and raise the efficiency of transportation of slurry by a method in which supernatant liquid is discharged through a suction nozzle and at the same time medium contained in precipitate layer is also discharged through a medium suction pipe.
CONSTITUTION: Slurry loaded in a hold 2 is separated into a supernatant liquid 5 and a precipitate layer 4 as time passes, and thus the supernatant liquid 5 is sucked up through a suction nozzle 3 and then discharged through a supernatant liquid discharge pipe 7. Also, medium present in the supernatant liquid 5 and the precipitate layer 4 enters a through hole bored in a medium suction pipe 14, falls down the pipe, and then flows through a valve 15 being opened and a pipe 21 into a surge tank 19. When the level of the medium in the surge tank 9 reaches a given level, a slurry pump 12 is operated and the medium is discharged through a slurry discharge pipe 13, a valve 17, and then the discharge pipe 7.
