Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. suitable for use in the shielding layer of cables, by a method wherein an electrically conductive carbon black and an org. peroxide are blanded with an ethylene-propylene copolymer or an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer, said polymers having a specified ethylene/propylene ratio.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100pts.wt. of an ethylene-propylene copolymer having an ethylene/propylene ratio of 73/27W92/8 or an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer having an ethylene/propylene ratio of 73/27W92/8, (B) 12W150pts.wt. of an electrically conductive carbon black (e.g. acetylene black) and (C) 1W7pts.wt. of an org. peroxide (e.g. dicumyl peroxide) and, if necessary, (D) a cross-linking aid (e.g. a triallyl isocyanurate) are kneaded to obtain the titled compsn.
EFFECT: The pelletizing of the compsn. is possible control in manufacturing process is easy. Scorching does not occur during extrusion. Further, the compsn. exhibits rubberlike elasticity even at an elevated temperature.
