Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Sulfated polysaccharide DF-4639 having a glucide portion consisting mainly of D-glucose and D-galactose, to which is bonded a peptidoglycan portion and having the following properties: average MW about 23,000 (gel filtration method); elemental analysis: C26.20W26.90%, H3.77W3.96%, N0.71W1.18%, S10.7W11.6%, P0.75W1.02%, sugar content:56.4%; protein content:2.0%; specific rotatory power: [d]D25-36±1° (1% aqueous solution); major absorption hand in infrared absorption spectrum (cm-1, KBr): 1,240, 840 (shoulder), 800W820; solubility:readily soluble in water, practically insoluble in an organic solvent; basicity, neutrality or acidity:pH6W8 (3% aqueous solution of the Na salt).
USE: Antithrombotic agent. The material shows weaker anticoagulant activity than heparin, and does not show erythrocite agglutination-promoting action.
PREPARATION: Micrococci AT-25 (FERM-P52355) are cultured. Then, the material DF-4639 is collected from the culture.
