Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the fixation and conglomeration of polyethylene pellets by an inexpensive and ecomonical method wherein ionizing radioactive rays of 105W108 rad are applied to the spherical body or the like of crystalline polyethylene and the fine powder of a heat-resisting property is stuck to the surface thereof.
CONSTITUTION: By applying the ionizing radioactive rays of 105W108 rad to the pellets of the crystalline polyethylene, the crosslinking reaction is caused among them to make it hard to be fluidized even in the temperature higher than the melting point thereof, while the fine powder of heat-resisting property such as aluminum oxide is stuck, being smeared, to the surface thereof. According to the result of experiments, the pellets of regenerative body thus obtained are not congealed nearly at all even when a number of melting and congelation are repeated and individual particles of pellets are easily separated to scatter. In this way, the congelation and conglomeration of the regenerative body of polyethylene can be prevented by the inexpensive and economical method.
