Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase a charging efficiency in a suction stroke by communicating an auxiliary chamber containing a diaphragm with an intake path of an internal combustion engine to suck an air into the chamber before the suction stroke.
CONSTITUTION: A pipe 11 having a make-up chamber 12 is connected by a communication path 9 to an intake path 3a in the vicinity of an intake valve 6. The chamber 12 is divided by a diaphragm 12a into two, one of which is communicated with a breather chamber 13 of a crankcase 5 by pipes 10', 11' which have a reed valve 14. Before an intake stroke, a piston 4 rises to generate a negative pressure in the breather chamber 13. The negative pressure deforms the diaphragm 12a to the position shown by a dotted line. In the intake stroke, the diaphragm is forced back to the original position so that a mixture carried into the chamber 12 and an air, as well are sucked into a combustion chamber 1a.
