Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:12β-[ (3,4-Dimethyl-1-0-2-pentenyl)oxy ]-3β-[ ( 2, 6-dideoxy-3- 0-methyl-ribo-hexyl-( 1→4 )-2,6-dideoxy-3-0-methyl-ribo-hexyl( 1→4 )-2,6-dideoxy- 3-0-methyl-ribo-hexyl)-oxy]-3β-8,14β-trihydroxypregn-5-en-20-one of formula.
USE: An immunopromoting agent.
PROCESS: The dried root of Cynanchum caudatum MAX is extracted with a solvent such as chloroform, and defatted with hexane, etc. The extract is further extracted with a mixture of an aliphatic hydrocarbon and an aromatic hydrocarbon, and the extract is separated into the soluble part and the insoluble part. The soluble part is fractionated into two fractions by column chromatography, and the fraction having larger Rf value is subjected to the repeated fractionation with silica gel column chromatography to separate and purify the fraction having the highest Rf value.
