Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain glaze with superior dispersibility and shelf stability by adding a specified sulfoethylcellulose sodium salt.
CONSTITUTION: A sulfoethylcellulose sodium salt is added to suspended glaze obtd. by mixing 100pts.wt. quartz, feldspar, barium carbonate or the like into about 20W200pts.wt. water. The amount of the salt added is about 0.1W10pts.wt. to the amount of the solid in the glaze. The salt used is a water soluble salt having ≥about 0.2 degree of sulfoethyl substitution per glucose unit of cellulose, that is, ≥about 0.2 degree of etherification and synthesized by reacting alkalicellulose and sodium β-chloroethanesulfonate in a water soluble org. solvent such as propyl alcohol or acetone.
