Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize an accurate measurement for the transmission factor of the wall to be measured, by isolating the sound generated at the site from the test sound produced for measurement of the transmission factor via the correlation method and then giving a distinction between the sound passed through the wall to be measured and the sound propagated through other route.
CONSTITUTION: The speaker 2 and the microphone 3 are installed in opposition to each other across the wall 1 to be measured while centering the wall 1. In such conditions, both the M-series pseudo random signal generator 6 and the period signal generator 7 are operated. Thus the acoustic signal having a frequency of 2n/h is transmitted from the speaker 2 with every period during which the pseudo random pulse is transmitted, and a part of the acoustic signal propagates to the microphone 3 after transmitting through the wall 1. The output signal supplied from the microphone 3 is squared by the data processor 9, thus the noise at the site or the noise given from ohter route being erased. Then the value corresponding to the square of the transmitted sound is displayed on the data processor 9.
