Abstract

Building materials such as concrete and granite are tested for faults and fissures by subjecting them to pulsed ultrasonic waves to measure propagation time through the material. A pilot generator (1) is connected to a pulse generator (3) whose output drives an electroacoustic convertor transmitter (7) mounted on the surface of the construction material (8) under investigation. An electroacoustic receiver (9) with two resonators receives the transmitted signals. One resonator receives a direct signal while the other has an inbuilt delay. Both signals are amplified (12, 13) and multiplied (14). The signals are then formed into digital signals having time intervals. After processing the digital signals are converted into video signals.
