Abstract

PURPOSE: After addition of an organic flame retarder to a photocurable resin composition, they are sprayed by the use of a gaseous medium into a zone that is irradiated with ultraviolet rays, thus producing the objective particles giving light- weight flame-retardant cured products.
CONSTITUTION: For example, an epoxyacrylate resulting from the addition of acrylic acid to bisphenol-A diglycidyl ether is uniformly mixed with hydroxyethyl acrylate and banzoin isobutyl ether as a photosensitizer to prepare a photocurable resin composition. After the composition is combined with an organic flame retarder such as tris(2,3-dibromopropyl)phosphate, preferably a thermosetting resin such as epoxy resin, they are sprayed by the use of a gaseous medium into a zone irradiated with ultraviolet rays to effect the photosetting of the resin, thus producing the objective polymer particles.
