Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a low-shrinkage thermosetting resin for molding electrical devices without forming floating gels, by dropping a diepoxide compound solution at a specified concentration into a γ-butyrolactone solution in the presence of a catalyst and reacting them.
CONSTITUTION: In the synthesis of a 1,4,6-trioxaspiro[4,4] nonyl type low-shrinkage thermosetting resin by carrying out the reaction by dropping a solution of a diepoxide compound, e.g., bisphenol A diglycidyl ether into a γ-butyrolactone solution containing about 0.4W12mol% of a boron trifluoride type catalyst; a solution having a concentration of 27W40% is used as said diepoxide compound solution. With respect to the total amount of a solvent used, an amount which can provide a concentration of about 20W80wt% is suitable.
