Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform denitration at low costs by allowing the reduction of the NOx in sintering exhaust gases by NH3 and the oxidation of the CO in said gases through the specific same catalysts to take place simultaneously, and decreasing the fuel for a heating-up furnace of the quantity corresponding to the heat quantity obtainable by said CO oxidation. CONSTITUTION:The sintering exhaust gas having been heated up by passing the low-temp. side of a heat exchanger 1 is boosted 2. After it has passed a heating-up furnace 3, it is mixed with NH3 and the mixed gases are admitted into a reactor 4, thence they are passed through the high-temp. side of the heat exchanger 1. In this case, alpha-Fe2O3 of >=0.6 in 110 plane peak intensity/104 plane peak intensity of crystal grating planes in X-ray diffraction rays is used for the denitration catalysts of the reactor 4. CO is oxidized simultaneously with the reduction of NOx by said catalysts, and the sintering exhaust gas is heated up by the heat formed by this oxidation. Hence, the fuel for heating-up fuel is decreased and the above-described inexpensive catalysts may be provided.
