Abstract

PURPOSE:To extract inert gas containing little oxygen by preheating combustion gas by returning combustion exhaust gas to the inlet side of a catalytic combustion apparatus. CONSTITUTION:Combustion exhaust gas 8 is returned to a mixer 16 by means of a blower 15 and mixed with air 2 and sent to a mixture 1, and mixed with fuel 3 here so that the concentration is brought to outside of the limit of explosion, and a return combustion system which forwards the mixture 4 to the catalytic combustion apparatus 6 and catalytically burns the mixture together with catalysts 5 is formed. Accordingly, the residual thermal energy of the combustion exhaust gas 8 is effectively utilized and the air 2 forwarded can be preheated without using a preheater which lowers efficiency and utilizes the thermal energy recovered of a heat exchanger 7. When the quantity of the combustion exhaust gas 8, which is taken by means of the circulating blower 15, sent to the mixer 16 is fixedly adjusted and the combustion gas is burnt, the oxygen content of the combustion exhaust gas 8 is brought to zero by the repeated consumption of oxygen through combustion.
