Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of the classification of the color of a pearl by detecting the feature of the color of a pearl, and classifying the pearl according to the detection result. CONSTITUTION:A pearl-color detector comprises a light source A, a dome B having the white-coated inner surface, a pearl holder C in the dome B, a detection unit D for the quantity of the diffuse reflectance light from a pearl, and an extraction unit E of the feature of the color of a pearl. The incident rays from the light source A are applied to a pearl on the holder C. The quantity of the diffuse reflectance light from the pearl is sensed by the detection unit D, and converted into a color detection quantity in the color feature extraction unit E. According to the color detection quantity, the color of the parl is classified.
