Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an excessive adjustment of the car height by initiating a car height adjusting operation in response to detection of a height of a car which can be considered to be substantially equal to the car height when the car is in stopped condition and by terminating the car height adjusting operation in response to detection of a temporary reference car height. CONSTITUTION:A suspension system 1 extends when it is supplied with compressed air from a compressor 21 by opening of a feeding side magnet valve 13 whereas it contracts when air is discharged from the suspension system 1 by opening of an exhausting side magnet valve 14. The magnet valves 13, 14 are controlled by a controller 20 including a decision circuit 25 which receives outputs of magnetic sensors 16, 17 for detecting the position of the shock absorber 1 in an extending or contracting direction, that is, the car height. The decision circuit 25 decides to which region the detected car height belongs, and the result of the decision is integrated 26 and is applied to another decision circuit 28. The decision circuit 28 similarly decides to which region the result of the first decision belongs, and if it is decided necessary to adjust the car height, a control circuit 30 controls a selective one of the magnet valves 13 or 14 accordingly.
