Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a simple method capable of manufacturing engines using different types of fuel, by changing configuration at the top of piston while using the same cylinder head. CONSTITUTION:In manufacturing engines having different outputs per one cylinder but having almost equal cylinder diameters or engines using different types of fuel, configuration at the top of piston 3 is changed while using the same cylinder head 2. That is, the volume of combustion chamber and hence the compression ratio are changed by forming recess 5 or projection 6 at the top of piston 3. Further, in case of family models, bolt holes or the like (not shown) for fastening cylinder 1 and cylinder head 2 are formed at positions not affected by the change of cylinder diameter, and the engine is manufactured by simultaneous drilling by use of a machine tool like a multiple spindle drilling machine. Thus, it is enabled to manufacture engines using different types of fuel with ease.
