Abstract

PURPOSE: To vaporize and remove Se from Se-contg. sodium sulfate at a high removing rate by allowing sulfuric acid vapor to be absorbed in the sodium sulfate followed by heating.
CONSTITUTION: Se-contg. sodium sulfate discharged from a stack gas desulfurization process is exposed to an atmosphere of sulfuric acid vapor to allow the vapor to be absorbed in the sodium sulfate, which is then heated at 200W600°C for ≥30min to vaporize and remove the Se from the sodium sulfate. By bringing the resulting Se-contg. gas into contact with water or an aqueous alkali soln., the Se can be recovered easily.
