Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a heat exchanger with the same heat transfer quantity but of a smaller size than a finned heat exchanger by burying metal tubes in a porous metal main body and fixing them to each other.
CONSTITUTION: A porous metal main body 1 in which metal tubes 2 are buried is formed by mixing the powder of copper, etc., with a synthetic resin including a foaming agent, burying the tubes 2 in the mixture and foaming it, then treating at a high temperature to burn and vaporize the synthetic resin and remove it. Then plating the main body 1 and the tubes 2 with copper, nickel, etc., both 1 and 2 are unified via the plated metal layer 3. By so doing, heat exchanging area can be made very large making the heat exchanger far smaller in size than a finned heat exchanger.
