Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain higher effect of cleaning when the dust attached to the magnet- ic head is cleaned away, by rotating the head in the opposite direction to the rotation given for reproduction.
CONSTITUTION: When the rotary magnetic head 2 is cleaned, the current of opposite polarity to the normal case is applied to the rotor motor to secure the reverse rotation for the rotor 1. When the rotation of the rotor 1 reaches the stationary state, the rotary solenoid 5 is started. And then the rotatable cleaning brush 3 is pressed to the head 2 to clean the magnetic head. During the cleaning, the rotor 1 has the forward and backward rotations alternately to increase the cleaning effect. Also the rotor 1 can always be kept clean by performing the cleaning in the timing by which the action to take out the tape is started.
