Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a vibrating force generated from a following wake current caused by a fin and a strut and prevent a noise and an obstruction against underwater acoustic instruments by a method wherein a horizontal fin is provided on a side part of a lower hull and a number of blades of a screw propellor except four is disposed.
CONSTITUTION: A twin-hull boat has a pair of submerged left and right lower hulls 1, struts 3 extending upwardly to the upper part of the water surface from respective lower hulls and a cross deck 5 connecting the left and right struts 3 at above the water surface. A substantially horizontal fin 2 is attached to the sides of the lower hulls while screw propellors 4' having a number of blades except four are provided at rear ends of respective lower hulls 1. Accordingly, even if a following wake current caused by the fin 2 and the strut 3 is so distributed as shown by a dotted line, two blades of the propellor blades will never be entered an area of the following wake current simultaneously, therefore, a big vibrating force will never be generated. For further reference, the number of blades of the propellor may be three, five, six or the like if it is a number except four.
