Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the cut-off response characteristic of a load limitation clutch, by interposing multi-plate type main clutch plates between an input shaft and output shaft and rotatably fitting on the input shaft a sub-clutch carrier which is adapted to change the flow path.
CONSTITUTION: Multi-plate type main clutch plates 4, 5 are interposed between an input shaft 1 and an output shaft 2. A main clutch piston 6 is fit in a piston chamber 7 of the input shaft 1. On the other hand, of the outer periphery of the input shaft 1, a sub-clutch carrier 6 is rotatably fit. The carrier 6 is adapted to change the flow path. When the output side is turned into an overload torque state, slippage occurs between the main clutch plages 4, 5 and the sub-clutch carrier 8 rotates relative to the input shaft 1. Accordingly, the chambers for the main and sub-clutch pistons 7, 15 are communicated with fluid discharge ports 25, 24 and the transmission of torque is cut.
