Abstract
PURPOSE: To carry out the efficient metal refining of metal using an inexpensive heat source with high thermal efficiency by blowing carbonaceous powder, oxidizing gas and nonoxidizing gas into molten metal in a reactor through a triple-tubed tuyere attached to the bottom of the reactor.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal is poured into converter type container 6 by half or less of the standard amount. Carbonaceous powder, oxidizing gas and nonoxidizing gas are blown into the molten metal through triple-tubed tuyere 7, and solid metal is continuously added to the molten metal through shaft type preheating furnace 10 and rotary kiln 9. At this time, the carbonaceous substance is fed from the central tube of tuyere 7 with the nonoxidizing gas as carrier optionally together with limestone and ferrosilicon. The oxidizing gas is fed from the circular part of the middle tube, and the nonoxidizing gas for preventing the fusion loss and oxidation of the tuyere material and cooling from the circular part of the outer tube.
