Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve desulfurizing effect by burying a desulfurizer in the bottom of a molten iron spout and continuously passing and contacting molten iron thereon. CONSTITUTION:At the time of flowing out the molten iron from a blast furnace to a vessel, a desulfurizer is buried in the bottom of a molten iron spout and is acted. Since the desulfurizer suspends and mixes in the molten iron and falls into the vessel, the reaction of the unreacted desulfurizer and the molten iron may be accelerated by agitating action, and the desulfurizing effect is improved. For example, soda ash, calcium carbide, etc. are used for the desulfurizer, and, for example, cement, pitch, etc. are used for a solidifying agent. These are used after having been incorporated, solidified and dried. At the time of burying the same into the spout, it is used by burying a steel casing lined with graphite or the like to the same level as that of the bottom surface of the molten iron spout so as to prevent the spout from being damaged, and packing the desulfurizer therein. Thereby, the desulfurizing efficiency is improved by about 50-70%.
