Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit the stepless control of an exhaust amount in a range from 0% to 100% by an arrangement wherein a pump with a variable exhaust amount is used as one of two pumps in a driving system of an auxiliary propeller for a ship.
CONSTITUTION: With a control valve 22 set at a full power position, a pump 13 is operated at the maximum exhaust and a hydraulic motor 14 rotates at full speed, so that an auxilialy propeller 9 generates the maximum thrust. Next, when the control valve 22 is lowered in its setting, the exhaust of the pump 13 is gradually reduced until its exhaust amount becomes zero. At this point, only a pump 12 is operated and number of revolution of the auxiliary propeller is reduced to 50%. When the setting of the valve 22 is further lowered, the exhaust amount of the pump 13 becomes negative, so that the pump 13 suctions a part of the exhaust from the pump 12 and functions as a motor returning its power to a hydraulic pump driving unit 11. With the valve 22 still further lowered in its setting, the pump 13 is finally brought into the reversed state of -100%. Thus, all of the exhaust amount of the pump 12 is absorbed by the pump 13 and then the hydraulic motor 14 is stopped.
