Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the formation of any gap between corrugated plates and spacers and prevent the breakage of the corrugated plates by forming the spacers maintaining the inter-wave-plate gaps constant by materials having a coefficient of thermal expansion larger than that of the rods mounting the spacers and corrugated plates to supporting frames.
CONSTITUTION: The moisture in the high-temperature high-moisture vapors flowing into the vapor flow passages 44 formed between diametrically opposing wave plates 4, 4 is captured in the 2nd space 13b via slits 16, flows along the face 17, gathers in the first space 13a to become water drops and falls downward by gravity along the wave plates 4. Hence, the vibration stresses occuring in the vapor flow are no more generated around the holes opened in the corrugated plates 4, whereby the breakage of the corrugated plates 4 is prevented.
