Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify detection of the leakage of water by a method wherein a buried pipe of an insulating material is filled with water, an electric wire for detection is led therein, and the pulse-form voltage is impressed on the wire, while electrode rods connected to the input terminal of a detector on the ground are stuck into the ground and a hole wherefrom the water leaks is detected from the position where the deflection on a galvanometer turns reverse.
CONSTITUTION: The ends of the pipe 2 of the insulating material buried in the ground are sealed with a waterproof sealing material 4. While the electric wire 6 is inserted from a manhole 5 into the pipe, the pipe 2 is filled up with water. The electric wire 6 is prepared by applying insulation coating 6b to a metal wire 6c discontinuously at a certain interval. While a contact 10 is opened and closed by using a battery 10 and thereby pulses are given to the wire 6, the electrode rods 12A and 12B of the galvanometer 11 are moved, being stuck in the ground point by point, along the route where the pipe 2 is laid. And, the hole wherefrom the water leaks is detected from the position where the deflection on the galvanometer 11 turns reverse to be zero. Thus, the detection is simplified.
