Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress the increase in temperature to below a limit, by a method wherein temperature of a printing head is detected by a temperature detecting means, and a drive duty of the printing head is caused to change.
CONSTITUTION: An output signal A of a temperature sensor 18 is a direct current voltage which fluctuates according to temperature of a printing head 20. At the inside of a timing control circuit 12, a signal B is produced by slicing the sensor output signal A by means of some slice level. Said signal B is brought to 1 level when the printing head 20 exceeds a given temperature, and is brought to a zero level when the printing head is below the given temperature. When the signal B becomes 1 level, the timing control circuit 12 switches a period of a carrier motor drive timing C and a printing drive timing D to double the period when the signal B is brought to a zero level. That is, when the printing head 20 rises up to higher than a given temperature, a drive duty of the printing head falls and heating of the printing head 20 is suppressed.
