Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent clouding and blackening of the wall of an airtight container by forming an anode with tungsten which contains at least one metal selected from the group consisting of silicon, aluminium and potassium.
CONSTITUTION: A xenon discharge lamp 1 is sealed holding respectively an anode 3 and a cathode 4 on both end parts of an airtight container 2, which is made of quartz, with a predetermined discharging gap, and has a sealing tip 6 which is sealed after the air in the airtight container 2 is evacuated through it. The anode 3 and the cathode 4 are connected electrically with one ends of leads 7, 7 respectively, and the other ends of leads 7, 7 are connected electrically with outer terminals 9, 9 of bases 8, 8 respectively. The anode 3 consists of tungsten which contains at least one metal selected from the group consisting of silicon, aluminium and potassium.
