Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently cool drained oil, by providing the pump-side rotary member of a fluid coupling with a plurality of oil drain pipes opened into the back chamber of a turbine and by placing the pipes in a cooling air zone.
CONSTITUTION: When an output shaft 5 and an oil pump (not shown in the drawing) are rotated by driving an engine, some of lubricating oil is conducted from the oil feed passage 12 of the output shaft 5 into the working space 30 of a fluid passage 3 through a communication passage 14. As a result, motive power transmitted to a pump impeller 31 is transmitted to a turbine runner 32 to rotate an intermediate shaft 7. The working oil introduced into the space 30 is drained by the rotation of the runner 32 into a back chamber 32a in a direction from the radial outside of the runner. After that, the working oil flows from he back chamber 32a and passes through a plurality of oil drain pipes 40 radially attached to a back wall plate 33 and is cooled by air in an air passage 50. The cooled oil is returned to an oil pan in an engine casing through an oil drain passage 13 and an insertion hole 15.
