Abstract

PURPOSE: To oxidize hydrogen sulfides to sulfur dioxide and save various expenses by contacting an exhasut gas contg. hydrogen sulfuides with oxidation catalyst at the specific temperature.
CONSTITUTION: Clay ore and zinc oxide as well as manganese oxide or clay ore and zinc oxide or clay ore and manganese oxide are sufficiently fined and mixed to form the catalyst composition. Next, if the catalyst made by molding the catalyst composition to various shapes and fired the same is contacted with an exhaust gas contg. hydrogen sulfides at ≥150°C temp., the hydrogen sulfides oxidize and change to sulfur dioxide. The catalyst having degraded in performance upon long-term use may be easily regenerated when heated.
